Orchid - Epilogue of a Car Crash - Chaos is me LP- track 11/11
Since there is no lyrics genius page ill tell you exactly what this song is about. its a clever analogy of a bad habit and relapsing to that bad habit to a toxic problematic relationship and relapsing back to the same type of relationship or the same person. I was crying you were laughing hit in the face blood in the show we were never happy we were never happy. this is a verse about the main themes of this toxic relationship that even go to the point of blood spill. but the verses before this act really paint the picture. its like the partner get a pleasurable enjoyment out of his suffering. we were never happier we were never happy. it sounds contradictory but its shows not only that happiness was not grounded in anything but fleeting moments of pleasure and pain. they experienced great heavenly even happiness but they were never happy it was never a lasting kind of high. you say you miss those days but we did it right, right? its that doubt its the curiosity if there something I missed out. could things have gone better? its that second right? that is like starting to smoke again. even though you've claimed to quit the habit. but if you really did. why did you start smoking again. you are aware of the risks of smoking it can kill you it can ruin your future.
why do we come back to it? why do we relapse? theres a lab mouse who was given dopamine and feel good button if would press it until theres nothing for it anyore it quits. but when it feels pain like a shock itll go back to the button for that drug. unresolved pains and traumas can be that shock that will make us relapse or go back to someone you know is bad for you even if that person is sick and gets an enjoyment of your suffering we were never happier (than when you were laughing at my suffering) we were never happy (is what you would tell me) then there's a title another analogy to the relationship. car crashes can signify a break up metaphorically and this is how he feels after the break up. maybe they broke up after getting into a car crash together and this is the aftermath. maybe a toxic relationship can be like a car crash blindsiding you and you are damaged totaled after such a relationship. the blood in the snow could be alluding to the car crash is the cause of the blood in the snow and he was crying while she was laughing before the crash. this is one of my fave screamo songs the long leadup intro the the lyrics and this is the last song on the album. as if the intro is the car drive and the vocals are when the crash happened. the drums leading into the bass could be like turmoil on the car ride before the crash. its such a well written song. and orchid is def a huge influence on the screamo eo scene being from 1999 give the whole album a listen its great. the end of a song kind of reminds me of a hospital and ambulance as well. 10/10 track highly recommend the band
