what a good good day (everything we know about OK Go's new album)

OHHH YES, we're so back, baby!

i'm spaceheys resident and only ok go fan and i am proud to tell you guys that OK GO IS RELEASING NEW MUSIIIIIC. ooooh hell yes.

OK Go's fifth studio album, And The Adjacent Possible, is slated to release on the 11th of april. this is 10 years and 6 months after the release of their last album, Hungry Ghosts, which released in october of 2014.

members of the PGO, lucky bastards, have heard quite a bit from the album in advance, but us mere mortals have gotten 3 singles as promotion for the album.

the first of these was A Stone Only Rolls Downhill, a chill song about cautious optimism. the music video has the band in a physical splitscreen created with the power of 64 phones all playing different clips. it took them a shit ton of work and 1043 takes.

a couple of days ago, on valentines day, for all us lonely paracadets they released 2 singles, A Good, Good Day At Last and Going Home. these two have only gotten visualizers, both commissioned from visual artists. (EYESTRAIN WARNING for the first of these, as it has some jarring transitions.)

(a note on the visualizer for AGGDAL: yes, AI was used in the frame transitions. from OK Go's official response under the video, "No one’s art was used in this except Adam’s [the artist]. No illustrations were generated. No human animators were denied a job, and much of the animation is in fact done by one, “manually,” which is to say, using other insanely powerful digital tools like After Effects." in my honest opinion as an animation student who is seeing his dreams of entering the industry slowly crushed by the industries' refusal to regulate AI and the production companies' enthusiasm by cutting down on labor costs by using it, i can appreciate that they didnt just straight up used generative AI and called it a day. i can appreciate it that this was an artistic choice made by a human artist. however, i *hate* it and would rather they hadn't. but thats just a me thing.)

apart from new music, they have announced a tour! US only, though, which absolutely sucks. (anyone willing to fly me out from chile so i can see these mfs live?) a couple of their shows have already sold out, which, woohoo for them!

for smaller things, they've released some merch (i'm eyeing the yellow on black cubism tshirt) and the tracklist for the album. so on the 11th of april we are getting a full, 12 track album, and goooooooood am i excited.
