i've been wanting to read more poetry so i'm glad this showed up on my page! also, if you liked caged bird by maya angelou, you might consider checking out another poem of hers called "when great trees fall". we read that for our literature class and i loved it 💌

Locked in this car, the sun beats down,
Panting breath, but no one’s around.
Paws on the seat, I scratch and cry,
Heat is rising, and so am I.
Tongue is dry, no water near,
I wait for you, but I’m trapped in fear.

Why did you leave me in this cruel mistake?
