Blood-Thirst Soul
Hematolagnia
Blood has been something very special to me for as long as I can remember—its deep, brilliant color, the warmth in every drop, its taste so… intoxicating…
To me, blood has always held a poetic meaning, one I can only define as "the closest thing to the soul that the body possesses." That vital fluid, the essence of life itself, coursing through our entire being—especially through the heart, an organ designed almost exclusively for it, and yet, so deeply vulnerable to emotions.
Blood does not lie, it does not hesitate, it does not spill where it does not belong…
For a long time, it was merely a concept I found beautiful, something that made me feel a little strange. But in recent years, this fixation has only grown stronger, almost as if it had a will of its own.
- Snoot Game: In one particular scene, the love interest of the game is found completely isolated from her circle. When we come across her, she is covered in blood, harming herself because she cannot comprehend the intensity of her emotions.
- DDLC: Near the end of the first part of the story, we find ourselves working on a group project with Yuri. At one point, we accidentally cut our fingertip, and this catches Yuri’s attention, pulling her into her own thoughts. She acts without thinking and brings our hand to her mouth, tasting our blood.
Both scenes use blood as a medium to express overwhelming and complex emotions. I played both games knowing nothing beyond the surface, so these moments caught me completely off guard, especially because of how suddenly they unfold.
They awakened something in me that I cannot quite explain—an intensity that very few things have ever managed to stir within me, It makes my skin
crawl and an overwhelming shiver runs down my spine.
"Hematolagnia: a sexual fetish for blood which evokes arousal when present on the fetishist's sexual partner."
Not all blood has such an alluring color. Not all blood carries a comforting warmth. Not all blood has a pleasant taste.
But some… some cannot be mistaken for any other.
For there are souls that hold fragments of heaven within them, and when they bleed, they spill the light of the stars.
Perhaps I have been a vampire all this time and never knew it…
Or maybe I’m just a little freak and should see a psychiatrist. Either way, I cannot deny that blood makes my heart beat.
