The internet used to be fun. It used to be messy, creative, and full of personality. Now, everything pretty much looks the same: sleek, sterile, 'minimal' and designed to keep you scrolling rather than actually connecting with people like we did on platforms like MySpace back in the day (although it was mostly used by people born in the late 90s) . Every social media platform feels like it was made for brands first, people second. Personalization? Barely. Everything is optimized for engagement, not expression.
That’s why ✩ ° SpaceHey ｡⋆⸜ 🎧 feels different. It brings back the golden era of the internet, when you could make a page yours. I love how there's designed to trap you in a cycle of meaningless content. Just people, sharing whatever they want, however they want. And being a Gen-Z, I'm so glad us early 2000s people can enjoy this side of the internet!
And honestly, that’s rare now. Social media has become so polished and impersonal that it’s easy to forget the internet used to be a place for weird, unfiltered self-expression. SpaceHey is a reminder that not everything has to be about numbers, reach, or optimization. Sometimes, it’s just about having a space that feels like home -`♡´-

I totally agree! We need a space where we're allowed and given the opportunity to express ourselves fully, which is honestly difficult these days with there being so few options available. Every other social media app nowadays (I feel so old throwing that phrase out there loll) seems either TOO over-simplified for the sake of functionality, or designed to keep us intertwined in a never-ending cycle of scroll addiction- If one way works, all the other apps follow suit, just like how YT and Insta have dedicated pages that copies the Tiktok format. It's literally crazy imo, the originality is dwindling further and further- sigh, there's for sure a need for this kind of website in the social media realm rn but it's just not completely known about yet (perhaps it's slowly gaining more traction again tho??) Your blog post is so real and you're not alone in how you feel abt this !! :')
