basic early 2010's stuff

1. websites

-winamp

great music platform that has been out for over 20 years with cool skins and clear sound, although having to download every song on your pc and filling all the information yourself is kind of a time consumer

-frutiger aero archive

-glittergraphics.com

blinkies, gifs and backgrounds!!!

-windows media player

2. shopping tips and fashion!!

Okay so shopping for clothes and accessories isnt really that hard if you look in the right places, i recommend searching for deadstock stores, thrift shops and small businesses, depop and vinted are great, especially if youre alternative, etsy and ebay, anything as long as its not fast fashion really

-layering

short sleeve over long sleeve, tank top over long sleeve, skirts over jeans, shorts over thighs/leggings, etc.

-avoid plainness

-loose fit and skinny jeans

-low rise jeans

-big necklines

-bows with different patterns

cowl-neck shirts, peasant tops, capri pants, dresses over jeans, accessories like chunky belts, aviator sunglasses, jelly bracelets, ties worn around the neck or as belts, ballet flats, platform boots

-leather jewelry like bracelets and necklaces

-checkered scarfs

-moustache, checkered, dotted, striped patterns

-avoid too much bagginess

-avoid flared pants if not low rise, cropped tops, baggier zip ups (pick more body hugging in the waist and sleeve area, longer ones instead), hoodies in general, overalls

3. hairstyles and cuts!!!

Emo and scene subcultures brought asymmetrical haircuts, popularized the side part, bold colors, chunky highlights and choppy hair

Middle part was popular in the early 2000's while side part took over the late 2000's and early 2010's

basic emo/scene hair tips:

experiment with your hair, it will grow back, its okay if it doesnt look good at first, you just need to find the right way to style it. Also i recommend pinning your fringe over your forehead to your bangs to train it to go sideways and make it easier for them to blend. Don't only cut the fringe and bangs, make sure to thin it out at the bottom as bottom layers and cut a lot of chunky top layers, helps with parting and teasing, only straighten the bottom layers downwards, the rest of the top layers, fringe and bangs- sideways in the bangs direction

emo/scene hair tips for curly haired people:

You can style your natural hair, there are great alternatives for curly emo/ scene hair like just straightening your bangs, but i recommend not cutting off too much when cutting your hair cause curls shrink, instead of cutting normal bottom layers as you would with straight hair, just trim on the sides to create the same effect and make the top layers longer. Also cut the fringe longer and cut the top layers shorter only where youre planning to part the hair, dont try to blend the fringe and bangs (unless youre straightening them), separate them and focus on the bangs instead

4. Make up!!!!

-glitter, pink blush, lashes, thin arch shaped brows, avoid glossy looks

5. General

-try to avoid square fonts, search for more cursive instead

-avoid minimalism, adapt maximalism
