CDs, Vinyl and Cassettes

I've been collecting physical media since I was young. I still remember ripping my CDs onto iTunes so I could list to it on my second generation iPod shuffle.

Now I have amassed over 300 CDs and am always getting more. I have a few cassettes and vinyl as well, but I am not gonna lie there is something about CDs that I just love. Probably because it reminds me of my childhood if we're being honest.

My prized CDs include Venom's Black Metal and Nails' Unsilent Death. They're definitely my favourites and I had someone try and barter for my Black Metal CD. That was funny.

Anyway, this is a pointless little rant about collecting physical music media. <3

heck yeah , collecting physical media will always mean more, cause it’s something tangible you can actually look at and hold and appreciate the art and effort that goes into putting it all together.

Exactly! That's why I collect, not only music but DVDs and books too. There is just something about them.

there is just something that i love about physical media. i find that owning something digitally is not as satisfying, and there is always the issue of it being deleted forever. there used to be stacks of CDs and VHS tapes by the living room television. boxes of video game discs in my brothers' bedrooms. i still have a briefcase where we used to keep pouches of XBOX discs. unfortunately most physical collections i had were done away with due to constantly moving from country to country.

these days i try to collect physical media again. it's a little difficult due to limitations in my life, but so far i have a few CDs and three vinyls. also -- perhaps this is rather off-topic -- i've slowly been transitioning away from streaming services and have been downloading mp3 files again. i listen to *a lot of music* and am constantly discovering more, so it's going to take quite a while. i just miss walking around with an ipod. i wish i kept mine but now i have to try and find one. i never really thought about it until now, but there are certain things i miss about technology being not so... coalesced, maybe? just not all in one place.

I get you about wanting your iPod, mine ended up eventually crapping out so I can't use it, but I did get a Discman so i could listen to my CDs while on the move and totally recommend it! Sure it takes up a little space in your bag but that's part of the fun!
