Hello guyses, and welcome to a yet another tutorial! This time I found out the steps to this tutorial myself with no help from others. I don't know why am I bragging about this...
Firstly, open up your Discord and your Neocities site dashboard. (make sure to be logged in on the site you want to link)
In Discord, click on the gear displayed next to your profile picture, display name, status, other icons next to your public details, etc.
You're now in the user settings!
Above the "Payment Settings" category name and above the "Clips" tab/link, there should be a "Connections". Click on it!
You should be greeted with something like above. There's a lot to fiddle around with these connections, but today we are going to click on the arrow facing right in a white square.
On the menu that suddenly popped up, click on the black globe icon. You are now starting to link your domain. Enter your Neocities domain in the normal URL manner, like this:
neocities-site-name-here.neocities.org
Click "Next". If Discord asks you to "make a DNS record", click on the "Verify using HTTPS" link next to the "Verify" button.
You are now asked to make a file on https://neocities-site-name-here.neocities.org/.well-known/discord
.
In your site dashboard, create a folder named .well-known
, then inside of it, create another folder named discord
, then create an index.html
file.
Open the index.html
file, and copy the value of the "Contents" read-only input. Remove any placeholder content of the .HTML file and instead paste in the copied code jargon.
Click the "Verify" button. If this succeeds, you are on the right track!
Now for some definitely optional cleanup, go back into your root folder of your site, and delete the .well-known
folder.
And that's it for today, if you have any questions, ask in the comments, and if this helped you, give me some Kudos if you want.
Cya!
