Rating my FAVE Crafty girl hobbies

Hey diva’s, so I love crafts and I love love love making anything pretty and unique, either just for me or as a gift (cause I’m a lover girl and gift giving is one of my love languages). Honestly, I think I’ve tried almost every crafty hobby out there—some honourable mentions include photography, clay making, diamond art, colour by numbers, crochet, and candle making (just to name a few!).

There are still a few crafty hobbies on my must-try list:

⋆。°✩ Sewing (lucky for me, my sister has a sewing machine!)—one of my dreams is to be that girl who takes a plain thrift find and turns it into something fashionably chic.
⋆。°✩ Pottery—because making cute little mugs and bowls sounds like a dream.
⋆。°✩ Beaded sun-catchers & handbags—say less!
⋆。°✩ Painting on tote bags, jeans & plain tops—perfect!

One day, these will definitely be added to my list!

But for now, let’s talk about some of the crafty hobbies I have tried (with example pics below) and rate them based on how much I loved them!

 Canvas & Digital Painting — 7/10
Aww, canvas painting reminds me of being a kid again—just going wild, making a huge mess, and high-fiving the canvas with lots of pinks, purples and dreamy blues. I especially love abstract art and soft, dreamy colour palettes. My favourite artist is Sincerely Art (pictured below!)

♡︎ Shell Decor — 9/10
Shell decor = mirrors, candles, jewellery, wind chimes—so many possibilities! I swear I was a mermaid in a past life because I’d happily live by the ocean forever. The best part of this hobby? Collecting the shells yourself, plus who doesn’t love a day at the beach? My Pro tip: The best time to find shells is right after a big storm—the waves bring the prettiest ones right up to the shore.

♡︎ Scrapbooking — 8/10
Scrapbooking is everything—it can be super aesthetic or chaotic (in the best way). There’s something so satisfying about a scrapbook that’s bursting at the seams because it's so full of memories. My partner and I started one when we first started dating, and it’s filled with movie tickets, arcade stubs, polaroids, handwritten notes— everythinggggg special, small or reminds us of a fun little adventure. Plus, it gives you the perfect excuse to collect all those little sentimental bits and pieces.

♡︎ Jewellery Making — 9/10
Jewellery making is sooo therapeutic (but also slightly ummm dangerous—stepping on a jewellery wire? Ouch). The fashion girlies would eat this hobby up because maximalist jewellery is so in right now! Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings—you can make them all, and the options are endless. My personal fave? Glass beads. One of my bucket-list goals is to attend a glass bead-making workshop! Also, last year (2024), I started upcycling thrifted jewellery—taking old beads and making them new again. (Blog post on that coming soon!)

♡︎ Beaded Embroidery — 2000/10
This. Is. Top. Tier. Hands down, my favourite hobby. It takes the longest, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. Adding beaded embroidery designs to your clothes, bags, anything you can physically sew with a needle, you can add beads. So far I have made a few Christmas ornaments, a framed turtle and a pink coined purse. There’s just something so magical about creating intricate designs with tiny beads—it’s giving patience, but the final result? Worth it.

I’ll leave this off by saying—the whole point of crafting is to have fun! If you’re not having fun, then something’s definitely off. You don’t have to be a pro to enjoy something. When I first tried all the hobbies I mentioned, I wasn’t exactly amazing at them, but did I stop just because I sucked? Ummmm, wtf noooo!! So, have fun, experiment, and keep trying new things until you find what you love! Bye babes ♡︎ xoxo
