The sims 4

So i've been thinking recently of getting the Sims 4 for my laptop since it's now free to download and because I think it would be funny if i made my OCs in there......... what are other people's thoughts on the game?? I had it on my xbox when I was younger but it was mostly my sister who played it so I don't really know what to expect. Is it boring without the expansion packs?
