Twee - History and Fashion

Twee fashion is a blend of kitsch and the ‘2018 art hoe’ aesthetic. It’s fun, it’s retro, it's bold, and patterns are EVERYTHING! Sorry for being gone so long, let’s get into it!

The twee aesthetic can blend motifs from the 50's, 80's, and 2010's depending on what you're comfortable with! A typical twee outfit consists of a blouse or graphic tee/dress, a cardigan for cold weather, a full circle skirt, tights, and heels! The most important part of staying true to the aesthetic is patterns! Bright colors, polka dots, fun shapes, funky colors, mismatched color pallets. It’s all about having fun and being a *bit* of an eyesore! Accessories are EVERYTHING! Tights are pretty much a must, and gloves can pair well for the fall & winter. Scarves, and fun hats are also perfect additions. You want to look like someone raided the closet of a manic pixie dream girl who only shops at vintage stores.

There isn’t really twee music, you can listen to whatever you want, but I would say that folk music encapsulates the aesthetic generally well. I’m not going to link a playlist this time lol :)

And finally, I have a Pinterest board with plenty of outfit inspo!

Oh waow, even 2018 is slowly getting absorbed into nostalgia culture. Boomerhood is creeping up on the 00's kids!
