Perfectionism and Perfectionists

Is perfectionism messing us up as humans?

As humans, we are not immune to mistakes; everyone makes mistakes, and nothing is perfect. I think perfectionism is messing us up because we believe that everything needs to be perfect. This also affects our relationships because we expect others to be perfect, which is not possible. When they fail to meet those expectations, we feel disappointed and mad. Our relationships suffer as a result, and perfectionism not only harms us but also the people around us.

We need to cut ourselves and others some slack and understand that there is no such thing as perfect. Nothing and no one is perfect. Be kind to yourself and kind to others because if we are not kind to ourselves, we can't be kind to others. Perfectionists tend to become mad at themselves for not being able to meet their own expectations and be as "perfect" as they want to be.

in an ideal world we wouldn’t have this problem, and it’s clear to see how perfectionism is impacting our lives. On that same token, without that human instinct , the need to perfect and strive who’s to say we would have all we take for granted today? Tough nut to crack… interesting tho
