First time ice skating + Tried new Chinese restaurant + Ate Momofuku noodles + More

Ice skating

I've never went ice skating in my life, so when I saw that my school was hosting an ice skating hangout, I really wanted to try it out! I'm pretty sure I already mentioned in my blog that I roller skated, and I was hoping that I could translate one set of skating skills to the other, and I did for the most part. The only thing I will say that is a major difference is the friction between you and the floor; I'm more used to pushing more on a wooden floor while roller skating than not pushing as much on an icy floor while ice skating. Other than that, I was able to maneuver easily.

Also, while I was at the rink, I met two other cool people there! :-D

Chinese restaurant

Just today, I went to go eat at this small restaurant twenty minutes away. I've only been inside the restaurant to pick up mobile order deliveries, so it was neat to actually sit there and dine with my family. I got some sesame chicken with brown rice, and it was pretty good! The chicken was drenched in sauce, though, but I kind of expect that for a Chinese restaurant, they do that often, lol.

Also, this is more of a personal achievement, which may not seem like a huge deal to others, but I tried steamed broccoli, and I didn't immediately gag it out! I consider myself a very picky eater, so I'm proud of myself for eating/keeping down my first vegetable. If I were to change anything about the broccoli, though, I'd probably steam it for longer to get it softer and season it.

Momofuku soy and scallion noodles

I found a packet of these in my kitchen pantry, and I decided to eat them for lunch, and they were probably the best instant noodles I've had. I usually have typical Nissan chicken ramen in the cups, but these were better in my opinion. Maybe it's because this was my first time having them, but as of writing, I do prefer them over other instant noodles I've had before.

Cleaned kitchen cabinets and pantry

My household hasn't gone through our kitchen stock in forever, so I personally volunteered myself to go through it and throw out expired/unused things. I do not have pictures to show, but the place looks much cleaner and organized now. I even made little cutout labels for where every item goes in the pantry! I may do that with the cabinets, too, but I'm not sure where to put the labels at.

Coding a mini me as a virtual assistant

I've said in my blog that I was making a game in Godot, but one thing led to another, and now I'm looking at coding myself a little virtual assistant. I'm planning on using Spine 2D for animations and hopefully Python as the language, with Pygame's library. I don't think I've ever successfully made a project with Python before, so I'm giving myself 48 hours before I go on an indefinite hiatus.

Also, if I do ever finish this project, I would want to add:

  • a way to add multiple characters, so the program's easy to mod
  • a water intake reminder with a configurable timer
  • a movement/screen time break reminder with a configurable timer
  • a command to read out the current weather
