MY STORYYYYY

My feet dangled over the edge. Fog covered the ground of the meadow before me. Birds flew overhead. I stared intently at the trees ahead, as I watched a little girl, she must have been at least five or younger, playing around with her dad. No matter how hard I wanted to, I couldn't take my eyes off of them. So innocent, and alive.

“Hey kiddo, you alright?” Eleanor was holding Ollie in her hands. He was grabbing at her hair, pulling it towards him. “Oliver, stop hun.”

I ripped my eyes away from the site ahead and let out a small cough, glancing back at the spot where the small girl and her father were, they were gone. They must’ve started moving north to avoid getting caught in the herd. “Yeah, I’m good,” I let out a sigh, using my hands to push myself up off the floor. “We have to go back to the camp, the herd will be going up north. We should stay clear of it.” I said wiping off the dirt that was sticking to my clothes. I turned toward the meadow again, wiping the tears that filled my eyes.

A few years back after my dad had gotten bitten, we rushed to find somewhere to hide from the world. That's when I met a boy, he was a few years older than me. He took us back to this place, a junkyard. It was full of food that would last us years. We built a refugee camp and ever since then it grew.
