Went to a Phantogram concert in Atlanta last Friday (1/31/25) at Tabernacle. It was either sold out or almost. I got $20 off the ticket for going to a Remi Wolf Concert in September? Needed to treat myself on a self-date in a new environment. Went alone and enjoyed my time. The decor is super nice inside and there are different levels for the bar or smoking to accommodate different crowds. Stood behind a really tall guy but it wasn't too bad. Remembered to bring my camcorder too for some vintage-looking shots.
Their opener's name leaves me. He was okay and was owning what he was doing. Great guitarist but his set just draaaaged along. Everytime we thought that was the last song there'd be another with a fast guitar solo that we had to applaud for out of politeness. Vocals meh. Looked like a 35 year old extra from jersey shore or something.
This is Phantogram's first headlining tour which is surprising to me because they've had so many hits in my opinion. They said they've spent so much time opening they're grateful to lead now, I am too. The lead singer of Phantogram is incredibly sexy vocally and physically. This tour was for their most recent album which hasn't been a huge hit with long-term fans for no reason in particular, but you could tell we didn't know the newer songs. I love Jealousy from that album but in total it's a little too shoegaze for what I expect to hear from grungey, hip-hop-influenced electronica Phantogram. The hit songs they sang were Black Out Days, Pedestal, When I'm Small, Don't Move, Mouthful of Diamonds, You Don't Get Me High Anymore, and Fall in Love. My personal favorite albums are Ceremony and Three, so I was a little disappointed I didn't get to more songs from those like Mister Impossible, You're Mine, Calling All, In a Spiral, etc.
The production quality was what you'd expect from an intimate venue. Mostly lights and fog that framed the duo and their band quite nicely as simple as it was. One band member was a long-haired white man who played every instrument under the sun he was so goated.
The crowd attire was interesting. Mostly ripped black skinny jeans and t-shirts or the "downtown girl" aesthetique for those a little more dressed up. I have recently relocated to the greater Atlanta area and just wasn't expecting emo attire for what I'd call a grungier band. I wore an almost see-through thin green/blue long sleeve over a black halter top, black boyfriend jeans, and Delias black platforms. My makeup was a little goth cause I got carried away with my lip color. LOL kinda felt like a fish out of water.
Everyone was pretty lax. No one was watching the entire show through a phone and people recorded for appropriate times. A crowd member unfortunately passed out and I wish security would've been a bit faster and that Phantogram would've stopped playing or ensured that the audience was okay. The crowd was great about calling attention to it and giving the individual and his party appropriate space. As a festival-goer I guess I'm just used to attentive security.
As I walked back to my car I heard other fans express similar statements about the new album and wishing for a different set list, as well as wishing the opener was shorter or maybe multiple openers instead. All in All a okay experience. Not life-changing and I don't know if I'd see another Phantogram show again. They were great! But nothing you necessarily need to spend money on twice.

Maybe this is why there aren't more of us, because they really are good! Hopefully, they'll receive these criticisms, and get better with time. Thanks for sharing! And to answer your question, if I /had/ to pick a favorite, I'd say Mouthful of Diamonds. :)
Right i hope this won't be their only headlining tour!! I also think they might be more like, music festival artists if that makes sense? Like if i saw this same set at a festival it'd change my life, but as a solo event it was okay. And thank you for replying! Mouthful of Diamonds is so ethereal and cool

If you're a phantogram fan let me know your favorite songs! Finding fans is few and far between even though they're so successful
