hello! this is my first blog post! hopefully it won't be the last! xD
today i wanted to gush about a game i played recently, which has quickly become one of my favorite games i've ever played. it's called super lesbian animal rpg!!!
![key art for super lesbian animal rpg](https://external-media.spacehey.net/media/sHKic3VGMbrVnOifl6GARs4zJ3Bdz4-iafuokr9MMpug=/https://slarpg.com/assets/SLARPG%20key%20art%20-%20beach.png)
super lesbian animal rpg (or slarpg for short) is a game about...exactly what it sounds like! it's a turn based rpg about sapphic furries. specifically, it's about melody amaranth, a pink fox trans girl who goes on an adventure with her friends! the rest of the main cast includes:
- allison, a punk bunny girl who's also melodys girlfriend!
- claire, a chaotic trans cow girl who's always getting into trouble!
- and jodie, a butch tiger girl who serves as a knight!
theres a TON of other characters too, and they're all super fucking cool!!! even the most minor npcs have awesome designs!!
the overall story and characters are well-written too. melody is a character that i and many other trans girls relate to HEAVILY. the rest of the cast is also significantly fleshed out, and their chemistry is IMPECCABLE. this is one of the few rpgs where i actually bothered to do all the side quests before beating the game, simply because i didn't want to leave these characters :(
the gameplay is also pretty engaging. it has a few unique mechanics like star power and kissing (yes you can KISS your partner in battle to get a stat boost!!) but aside from that, it's pretty standard rpg stuff. that's not to say it isn't fun though, because it absolutely is. anyone who enjoys turn based rpgs will sure as hell get a kick out of this game.
aside from that, there are a few other things i wanna mention. the pixel art in this game is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. it reminds me a lot of ps1-era pixel art (e.g. mega man 8 and x4) and i absolutely LOVE IT!!! the soundtrack is also really fucking good!! i've found myself humming the tracks constantly!!
my only real gripe is that it's mostly pretty easy, even on normal mode. supposedly a hard mode update is coming soon, but no one knows when it's coming out. i suppose it makes the game more accessible though! so i'm not complaining.
aside from that, that's pretty much all i can say without delving into spoilers. i HIGHLY recommend playing the game for yourself. it's $15 on steam and itch, which is ABSOLUTELY worth it, considering the game is about 15 - 20 hours long. so yeah! go play it, you fool.
