these headphones are my wife. my silliest guy. they were hand-me-downs from my dad who used them lightly for a few years; I then proceeded to use them heavily for the next few. I've had my BOSE QC35s since june of 2022 and they continue to serve me well ^_^ I had to replace the leather ear pads, but that was decently easy and worth it.
BOSE QC35s = BOSE QuietComfort 35s
LOOK: I'm a huge fan of the silver and gray! it's good for stains and very timeless IMO, also a great background for all the stickers I put on them :3 the headphones also come with a nice black case which has been very useful for transport and storage
COMFORT: soo comfy...sometimes they slide off my head when I lean too far back but it's normally not a problem. after so many years of use the plastic + cushion top part of the headphones has actually taken the shape of my skull lol. that just makes them better to wear. the buttons are also convenient and easy to differentiate between using touch only, so I don't get confused by the different functions. overall the QC35s are convenient and great if you want to wear them for long periods of time (I like to use them while painting ♪(^∇^*))
AUDIO: again, I'm not an audiophile or expert, just a guy with preferences. I think the QC35s have the best audio quality out of all the headphones I've owned and tried out! much better than regular cheap headphones, and it feels very layered and immersive (I know there's a term for that...oughh it's slipped my mind) and pairs with the noise cancelling well
NOISE CANCELLING: these have three modes--high noise cancelling, low noise cancelling, and no noise cancelling--I use each one frequently!! the noise cancelling on these is so good combined with audio + the structure of the headphones that someone could loudly walk right up to me and I wouldn't notice. my skullcandy earbuds have better ANC (active noise cancelling) overall but I use the QC35s while I work to keep focused
EXTRAS: battery life still holds up but gets drained pretty quickly in one or two long uses, probably because they're so old lol. they charge fast so it works out. the hinges and joints on the headphones have also worn out over time... not to the point of having zero functinality but it's noticable
CONCLUSION: GOOD-ASS HEADPHONES!! comfortable, convenient, they sound good, and they shut out outside noise perfectly. they are also upwards of $300 CAD... my dad definietly snagged them on some kind of deal when he bought them years ago. the QC35s are a 4.5/5 for me, and I reccomend them if you're looking for a solid, quality pair of headphones to last you a long, long while
an update on my RAIL ANCs...they've moved up in my scale from a 3.5/5 to a 4! the touch controls are still bothersome but the noise cancelling and customization options have grown on me since I wrote my last tech diary entry. although I did drop them a couple times and now I can hear a noticable ringing in the right earbud when there's no audio playing. it's not a bother unless I'm wearing them in a quiet room with no music, but that's a pretty rare situation lol. they still hold up otherwise.
