A-level art - should u take it?

Hey Guysss

I thought I'd write a blog on reasons you should pick A-evel of art because I think it's a bit of a controversial A-level. People either pick it because they think it's "just drawing" and will be easy, or they don't pick it because they think it will take too much time and effort.

Well Ive been doing this course for over 5 months now and I thought I'd give my insight on it so far. I'm about to start my personal investigation so I imagine the workload is about to dramatically increase however I think it's a misconception that it is an overwhelming amount of work. At least at my sixth form and in y12 it's not as horrifically overwhelming as people describe, for example, its probably about 2-6 hours of work outside of lessons each week which is similar to any other subject tbh.

As for the work itself, it's literally art bro like idek how you can even call it work bc it lokey feels like im only doing 2 levels atp with a side of art and I love it sm. Like my friends are in maths I'm in the art room painting shapes and colours. It's also very independent and you get a lot of freedom with what materials you use and what theme you want to base ur art on!

Idk about other schools but personally picking art a-level was one of the best decisions I've ever made because it doesn't require much thought and it allows me to take a break from my other stressful subjects and do art during my frees (+ u can js listen to music whilst dong it).

I highly recommend picking it if you enjoy art and look to pursue it in the future or even just want to keep creativity in ur life for longer than js GCSE! But I would also say only pick it if you're getting grades 7-9 in ur gcses bc u might struggle a bit otherwise.

This was a lot of waffle but I hope its helpful to anyone thinking ab choosing art!!!

Also curious to know other people's experience with it so comment ur thoughts!

thanks for reading :))
