I feel like the discourse surrounding Mouthwashing is really flat and one dimensional :( I'm glad the game blew up, but some people just REALLY don't get it
Ofc there are some good, balanced takes online but a lot of people gloss over the nuances of the game, which is a shame because those are what make the game so compelling. How do you guys feel about it?

OMG that's just what I was thinking, especially in the scene before Swansea's death, and of the times throughout the whole game where they talk about the empty feeling of accomplishing a goal, I'm like, are we really overlooking that that man admitted that the best years of his life were those spent drunk and half dead on a couch instead of having gotten a loving family? Or also of Jimmy's feeling of inferiority. There is a lot left unspoken.
Yeah. One of the key parts of the game is how much it hides from us. It wants us to have a very narrow point of view, so many things are glossed over or not further delved into. I wish fans would try to fill in those missing gaps and talk about those aspects more, but a lot of online takes I've seen are lukewarm at best and horrible at worst

honestly it pisses me off because there are people infantilizing jimmy as if what he did was a silly little mistake .. i understand the sentiment that they are (albeit fictional) people outside "the incident" but an abuser will always be an abuser, in my opinion. NOT TO BE TOO WOKE BUT YA KNO T_T
also does anybody else hate the actors au?
Agree with the infantalization thing, also same about the actor au! In theory I thought it would be wholesome considering all the events would be purely fiction, but even in the actor au Jimmy and Curly's actors are tone deaf and assholes to Anya

honestly i fully agree, i feel like most of the community js glorifies the characters and calls them cute n shit but doesnt actually realize the true deeper meaning of some of the topics in the game
So real, like I find the memes funny too but the way people generalize the characters is so annoying
