I wonder the same thing... I used to roleplay not on myspace but definitely on like open world games and this one app (that i recently found out doesn't exist anymore o(╥﹏╥)o ) called virtual worlds where people have their blog account and would host open "group chats" to roleplay that would set rules and context and it was usually based on like the different fandoms of the time. That app was really popular (from what I could tell) more in like the early and mid 2010s (which is around the time I was involved in it). I think the company that made it still exists and some of their other (kinda similar apps) still exist, but that specfic one is gone.
I don't think I've ever met another person (aside from the person who showed me it in the first place) who used that app too.
ive def roleplayed open world, i did more like moviestar planet and club penguin, i dont think ive heard of the open world you were in :0 i eventually used wizard 101 then moved to more group chat roleplay like amino or kik. i tried discord a few years ago but it just isnt the same xD
