My Song of the Week | Week 2

What's

goin on everyone? Hope each of you on this site have been good and that the negatives are outweighed by the positives! It's Thursday and it's time for another round of this. This week's song of the week is none other than:

This one is tricky business, especially since as of now the world, and more to home America, is completely broken up. This is going to be mainly middle ground politics, but it has to do with the song and why it is so damn important. And that's what this song is about, politics. We'll get into gun violence near the end of this impromptu 'essay'.
"Let 'em Burn" is an attack on both sides of the aisle as Jonny sings: "Fear the left, fear the right. Money is power and power decides" which brings truth to the whole equation. The whole point of this song is to bring to light that it isn't about left vs right or the tribalism that many of us succumb to, but it's about the government, the powers at be being able to split up mother and father, sister and brother just by making one side of the aisle the enemy. The thing that the government fears most is a unified people; and by how it's looking no one wants to make the government tremble in its boots. It's far easier to stick to an echo chamber of ideas and hate than try and go into the aisle over and see what they are talking about and try to make common ground.

"They repeat a lie 'til it becomes fact, we gotta burn it down just to build it back" I take in a much more literal sense, but it leaves your head spinning. Once everything is gone and we have to build it back... what will it become? Is it just the career politicians we need removed? Is it the system itself? What other systems actually work?.. There are too many questions that come to mind when it comes to this type of thinking. I won't say what I think, but the point is clear in what he means; the government is not on our side, no matter the -ism it comes in.

Now, let's speak on the music video. The entirety of it is about, well, killing. Shooting one another as the perspectives change and become skewed. I'll leave this section to this:
"Hundreds of people have been killed in mass shootings over the past several years. Almost everyone has chosen the red team or the blue team and we’re stuck in this mode where we fight over political problems instead of human solutions. More guns or less guns isn’t the question. The real question is, why are we killing each other?" ~Nothing More. (Yes I got that from the comments, shhh)

This song, as well as the album is top tier. I'm looking forward to what the new album has to offer when it comes later this year. Besides that, I hope that the song has made you think, possibly made you realize just how idiotic politics are since it plays the biggest role in splitting us all apart when we should all be united. Humanity will learn someday, or maybe not and we'll be forced to relive this never-ending nightmare of a dream called life until people go extinct. If there is an other, we shall always hate. Cheers!
