it seems i have fallen in love

with the idea of falling in love

and i search for it everywhere 

and in everyone

in the small smiles exchanged,

to kind gestures and fond memories,

to daydreams of dancing under willow trees

i’ve fallen in love with someone who doesn’t exist

a figment of my imagination

who holds me when i need it most

and makes every day just a little easier

i look for them everywhere

hoping that today will finally be the day 

our fates intertwine

but until then

i fall in love with the idea of them

in hopes that one day they'll appear
