Silent Hill 2 Lakeview Hotel rant (Spoilers!!)

I genuinely love Silent Hill 2 so much it’s my absolute favorite game! I feel like something that a lot of people don’t talk about is the otherworld for Lakeview Hotel and it’s genuinely my favorite area of the whole game. If you don’t know you enter this area after watching the tape in room 312. I personally think the setup for it is amazing. In my personal head canon I like to think that the other world of the hotel represents James mentality after watching the tape. This hotel was THE place that him and Mary went to really express how much they truly loved each other. But the vision of this romantic place is tainted after he remembers that he killed Mary. The hotel (like other areas) become this disgusting rotting place that’s falling apart, it’s like a facade that’s slowly falling apart. Then Black Fairy begins to play and as much as that songs has become kind of annoying because of the popularity it gained from TikTok it just plays so well in this scene and makes it so much more creepier.
