Trout Mask Replica Review

This is my first review here, opted for this website since I'm not fond of places like RYM or album of the year, go have fun.

Some people like to call Trout Mask Replica a masterpiece, influencing a ton of bands like talking heads and red hot chili peppers, while being one of the weirdest yet one of the most unique avant garde piece of music out there. I like to call it shit, sure those people might be right. but so am I in the end because this is fucking awful, sort of. This Berklee professor's wet dream grew on me a lot, and this could just be because of Stockholm syndrome but after my 3rd listen I started to enjoy this album or at least a little. I know I'm not the only one who had an experience like that while listening to this piece of shit because I hear a LOT of people say that, so my opinion here isn't exactly unique, but I think that the reason behind it could be because at some point people start to hear the kind of style and atmosphere Captain Beefheart is trying to create here. At some points I feel like that they're just making shit up sometimes but that's just not true surprisingly, they're able to play a lot of the songs accurately in live performances so that argument doesn't really hold up at all when you look at the bigger picture, it's the same as different colored trash bins, it's still garbage but at least it's organized. It's not an easy listen but if you're patient and are willing to go through a couple of headaches then it's honestly pretty enjoyable, having Ella Guru stuck in your head while you're trying to sleep is one of the worst experiences out there though, I'll be real. Also I completely forgot to bring this up but the drumming is really damn good, especially in Hair Pie: Bake 2, anyways this reeks bye bye.
