3/Feb/25 - Week 5 of 52
Shit week, I'm not writing an essay for y'all either, this is a filler episode LOL. It sucks, but whatever.
Save your kudos for next week, maybe I'll find something then
Notable Observations
Common garden springtails galore except not really galore cause there's not even 20 of them
Total Observations: 19
Most numerous species: Entomobrya intermedia (5 observations)
Individual Interesting Observations
Marsh Springtail (Isotomurus palustris)
Friday (Jan 31st)
Not uncommon, but I'm limited in what I have to work with here, so may as well show off this cool guy.
Chilenocaecilius ornatipennis
Friday (Jan 31st)
Very common species in my garden, and not an uncommon sight across lots of the UK. However, very interesting nonetheless. One, it's name sounds a pit like penis. Two, it's actually a species local to Chile. Three, most populations of this species are actually fully asexual, so seeing a male is a rare sight! This one looks to be female however.
Breakdown

I'm really glad I found your blog. I'm not very versed in insects or anything quite like that, but I enjoy educational posts by people that love what they're studying. It's always a joy to see people's special interests. <3
I haven't seen anything interesting in my week, but I did stop a crow from eating plastic, and gave it nuts instead.

Glad you enjoyed!! I can't use weather as an excuse not to get out this week, so hoping for at least something interesting in the next entry!
