Romance dramas and why I fell in love

Lets get started..

HI! so.. lets do some lore drops.
Around December of 2022 I wanted to create a tradition of watching romance movies/shows every December to give Christmas a romantical feeling hehe
So I started watching some. And here's what I descovereddd!

1. American romance is very cringe and sexual.. IMO!!! 
I am open to a show or movie changing my mind but all that I've seen so far involves s*x scenes very early and very explicit, extremely awkward/cringe moments that give me second hand embarrassment and CRAZY FRICKIN PLOTS!!! woosh... It's a ride that I didn't enjoy.

2. There's so many types of dramas.. everywhere across the world!! I haven't explored them all but I hope to one day :D!!  

ANd 3. Now this is something I've always known.. Romance and love is for everyone, all genders, all sizes (except child size!!!!!!!) EVERYONE can love and it goes beyond just boy meets girl.

When I didn't find what I wanted in American shows.. I explored other areas and regions !!
I think I started with a c drama I found on Netflix. It was so lovely!!!! 
I fell in love. 
Something I love about romance dramas (excluding American ones..) is the predictability! I have always been someone who doesn't like sudden surprises in media. I love the way each show follows a similar theme in pacing and tropes.
For example! 

An accidental meeting, our FL bumps into our ML and she falls backward!!! She falls in slow motion and in a smooth swift movement she is caught in the arms of the ML. Time stops and they look in each others eyes. Its magical!! Then the ML props FL on her feet again and excuses himself to go where he needs to.. and our FL is left with her heart fluttering.

I love it. and the timeline and pacing is lovely.. Its the right amount of time for our leads to get to know each other and fall in love. and usually there's a MICRO love scene where no actual sexual acts happen, but rather its implied. They kiss sweetly and the world stops and they hold each other close. then in the morning when they wake up next to each other they're shy and smiley..

Its just a lovely feeling. Ofc this doesn't speak for ALL. Its the majority of what I've seen.

Kdramas and Cdramas are like that, slow and romantic.
Japanese dramas are varied, jumping from sexy and romantic shows to light and wholesome ones!! Each show I've watched is either wholesome or sexy.. but still keeping that... modesty?? Sexy but not too much.
Thai dramas are similar.. 
The majority of the dramas I've seen are BL. Boys love. 
They jump from SOOOOO cute and wholesome to full on adult topics and scenes. depending on the show you watch! I usually watch the wholesome ones in all regions I've listed. Not that I don't enjoy a bit of a sexy theme! I just prefer the fluttery feeling I get when I watch sweet romance. SIGHHHH its just so dreamy.

Anyways as you can probably guess, I fell into watching them all year round. instead of just the winter.
I've always been in love with romance, watching and reading rather than participating myself. I think watching it is way better than the real thing. Maybe someone will change my mind in the future but right now I'm most comfortable alone.. I have my lovely friends and that's all I need!!
