COMIC RECS #2

there were a bunch i didn't put in my last one, so here's a few more! 

1. Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass

- my favorite portrayal of harley ever, she's still a teenager who just moved to gotham, living with drag queens and going to high school with ivy. it tells her origin story with a GORGEOUS art style and doesn't sexualize her like manyyyy other comics have. 

2. Cheer Up! Love and Pompoms

- it's a super heartwarming book about two teenagers reconciling over cheerleading! its portrayal of the main character's life as a trans girl is super well-done in my opinion, and it's comedic and cute and i totally recommend it. 

3. Dying Inside (frustrated review)

- i happen to be a person who loves BAD media. it's so much easier to form an opinion on than "good" (mainstream) media, for one, and usually gets more laughs out of me. and, on a completely unrelated note, Pete Wentz wrote this!

okay, i don't love pete's band Fall Out Boy, so i went into this not expecting much. the characters just don't seem particularly unique to me, i guess? ash, the main character, is emo, and she just acts so... emo!! not that it's a bad thing, i mean her canon music taste is fire. but that's it!!! she just has an Elliott Smith obsession and is written in a pretty shallow way for a protagonist.  the second main character, Liv? she's the condensation of every cheerful overly peppy character ever. i like the trope of sunshine/rainbows x death/fall out boy, but they don't even kiss at the end? BOOOOOO. this comic makes me feel the same way i felt watching the Wednesday Addams netflicks show. (negative)

if i was a comic book critic, i would say, no, you really don't need to read this. but i'm not- i am a teenage girl who likes to crap on stuff that i think has potential and could be better. the art style IS great, and if you don't mind the occasional reference to memes from like 2016, ur good. and if you like this comic unironically, more power to you, you are way cooler than my beavis-and-butthead rant. /gen
