I wanted to make a short list of cute/spicy manhwa/mangas that I've read and enjoyed. I will give a short summary on each one, and what I enjoyed about the series. Feel free to interact whether you've read these or not, and feel free to leave suggestions as well! (Red=Spicy/Purple=Cute)
- The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity :This is about a group of misfits that attend an all boys school (Chidori High), and a well-established all girl's school (Kikyo High). A boy named Rintaro from Chidori High meets a girl named Karuko who comes in as a customer to his family's cake shop. As the story goes on you learn that there's a rival between these schools. It's cute, funny (at times), and I found it really relaxing to read. It's a wholesome story about acceptance. The art style is adorable too!
- Yakuza Lover: A college student (Yuri) attending a wild college party when all of a sudden drug dealers show up and attack feisty Yuri, and she's saved by Toshiomi Oya a young boss of a Yakuza Syndicate; talk being in the wrong place at the right time ;) She convinces herself that she's not in the market for a bad-boy type, or is she? This is a pretty steamy story, so read at your own risk! I did enjoy Yuri's character development, and it's interesting to see how the young boss cares about her.
- Choking On Love: Hibari meets a rude guy at a ramen place turns out to be Gaku, a band member attending her art school. As she allows this man to push her around, her "normal" changes in a drastic manner. It's a clashing love story between a talented musician and an aspiring designer. When I first began reading it, I couldn't put it down, and although I typically like when the FL is bold. It gives a realistic take on how chaotic and random dating a musician can be at times, and the chemistry between Hibari & Gaku 10/10.
- Childhood Friend Complex: Ha-Neul & Mincheol have been childhood friends pretty much their whole lives, but their relationship changes in a whole new way when some unexpected events take place. They even vowed that they'd never be romantically attracted to each other, they come to realize they may have been proven wrong. Especially as things escalate, neither of them realize that this may change forever. Personally I was hooked within the 1st chapter, it's hilarious, awkward, and definitely has some spicy jaw dropping moments. Let me say, I was not expecting how the season ended, and although I was a tad disappointed.. The story is not over; it's just beginning. I find myself rereading it and wanting more despite how it ended. The art style is Korean, and I love Ha-Neul's awkward/tomboy personality. She also has really cute outfits, and I like how she navigates through her emotions. Ha-Neul & Mincheol definitely give off Best Friend couple, and I love how they talk to each other and their little banter.
- Boy-Friends Rule (AKA The Law of Being Friends With A Male): Jiun's first romance ends when her crush Jae-i confesses that he likes someone else. To make things worse Jae-i believes that Jiun has a crush on his scary-looking best friend, Seohyeon, and tries to help win him over. Jiun now faces getting over her unrequited love, while maintaining a friendship with Jae-i. However, Jae-i tries to help his homies out. Jiun takes her subtle rejection like a champ! All while simultaneously making way for a new romance. The author (Doo Yoon) does a great job at showing perspectives of Jiun, Seohyeon, & Jae-i, and isn't afraid to go in depth with side characters and side romances.
- My Lucky Strike: Siru is devastated when her crush a handsome guy named Gibaek Seol, friend zones her. She ends up going out the night she was friend zoned, drowns her sorrows, but after way too many drinks, she ends up accidentally kissing someone. The next day, two people in her class show up with a swollen lip. One is Gibaek, and the other is Cheong, a tall quiet guy who's always been a mystery. In one day Siru's dating life takes a drastic turn, and suddenly finds herself with two prospects. This manhwa was so funny, I found myself laughing so hard my stomach hurt and tears were coming from my eyes. I got hooked and read it all in one sitting. The art was wonderful, and I love how the author explores different dynamics between characters. I love the vastly different personalities, and Siru is a bold, quirky, firecracker of character, and as she navigates through her complex emotions. She begins to understand what she's looking for in a romantic partner.
