Yoooo lately I’ve been feeling bored with the major I chose and have been thinking about switching to Sonography. There’s nothing wrong w my major, but I’m kinda tired of getting waitlisted for the fun classes that relate to my current major. (They only have 10 slots for students each semester and they get taken up pretty quickly 😓) I only have 1 class this semester cuz I’m on a waitlist until next semester, and it gave me time to think about other careers and stuff. Then I heard abt sonography and thought that was cool so I started researching. Turns out the community college I attend does have CAAHEP-approved classes for Associates Degrees and Certificates for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, so that’s cool 😼. I think I’ll go the cardiac sonography route cuz hearts are cool and I’m a trans man, so I don’t wanna weird women out when I get on T and start passing as a cis man 😓. Tbh I don’t know when I’ll be able to get on T cuz I’m American and things are NOT looking good here for Trans folks 😭, especially here in Texas where I live. (The Texas governor just passed a bill voiding trans people’s passports 🙂) I’m very much cooked 😭.
I’ve also been trying to find a job that pays better because I don’t make much at my current job to be able to live by myself. No one wants to hire me tho, every place I applied to ghosted me 😭. I’ve been thinking abt selling my crochet amigurumi, keychains, and bags at a local flea market to save up enough to move out but idk if it’ll ever be successful or not :/
Anyways- 💀, money is also another reason why I wanna go into a sonography career cuz I heard it pays well, and it’s a pretty stable job. Plus I’ll be able to finish my classes and get my degree in 2-3 years so that’s cool 😼 I’m still thinking tho but if yall have any advice you wanna give me, that would be very much appreciated 🙏. Heyo :) It's great to be flexibel and go for another opportunity if you feel block on your current path. Better than staying stubborn for a long time but end up dissatisfied with the process and result. Also sounds like an interesting major
It's not about you, no one seems to hire anyone rn, it's weird how there are so many jobs online but they seem even more picky than before. Difficult times to find a job, patience is the only way it seems
Can't say anything about the T, I'm not in your situation but I'm sorry times are so uncertain for you and I hope you get through it and find a good way and solution to get those T infusions (?) or whatever medical process is involved :) Good luck
Tysm!! Also lol T is usually in injections but I heard that it can also come in gel, the only reason I can’t medically transition rn is cuz my family isn’t chill abt trans ppl but it’s aight. I just needa grind until I got enough money to move out
