The Epidemic of "Hardcore Influenced Death Metal" and Modern "Slam"

"Hardcore influenced Death Metal" - A term that represents everything wrong with modern death metal. Overproduced guitars and mildly harsh vocals lined with crappy "atmosphere" and cookie cutter riffs.

The Leprotic bubo that is beatdown hardcore has been more rapidly festering these days. The squeaky clean production that sounds the same on every band, and the screamed vocals are utter trash. Musically, the riffs are boring and reused constantly. In terms of their message, They hardly stand for anything punk-ish other than "beat up the guy next to you". The scene is flooded with right-wing douches who say "dummy slam" unironically and "it's about the music" when the music is the most basic formed boring BS every time.

One genre that "Beatdown" has invaded is death metal. Modern bands like Gatecreeper, Carnifex, Frozen Soul, and 200 Stab Wounds all sound the same. They enter the scene with basic stolen riffs and b ring all their unwanted beatdown buddies along with. I recently went to a show with Carnifex, Cryptospy and Organectomy. You can probably guess who I went to the show for. Cryptopsy killed it, but all the short haired ear plugged hardcore guys just sat there and nodded their head slightly. Me and my buddy were the ONLY ones in the pit the whole time. When carnifex came on, I left because I didn't like them, and the pit didn't even start up. Cryptopsy isn't even a really underground band, these guys are just lame. Although, it may have just been a bad crowd, but its the only show I've EVER been to where the pit was that empty.

My next target is modern "Slam". This genre has been flooded with incredibly boring overproduced bands for quite a long time. I really hate the production of the new bands. Facelift Deformation, Abominable Putridity, Guttural Slug, and all the -ectomy bands are just so damn boring. Torture is the most prominent culprit of "enduring boredom", but at least their message and image is new and unique. Slam is supposed to be a rejection of overproduced death metal, with raw production and gnarly vocals, but has turned into the very thing is sought to destroy.

Just my two cents.
