The Fashion And Its Rules (2)

(sorry i forgot this blog existed :P)

Now that i wrote some about the history of Lolita Fashion, i would like to talk about some of its "rules".

This subculture is very known by being veeeeeeeeery strict, a lot of people that don't know a lot about the fashion end up giving up for being called "itas" for not wearing the most conventional used in the subculture, so i'm going to write some of the most important rules that give character to this kind of fashion and make most of the Lolitas part of it.

1: avoid too contrasting black/white combinations!
In oldschool Lolita it was very commom to wear black dresses/JSK'S with white lace details, but always modeatedly, without the contrast being too shocking for the eyes. SO, you should avoid the excess of this color combination because it gets kind of weird and not very elegant.

2: the use of short skirts is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN!!!!!!!!!!

Thisrul is really importent, thats why i used so much exclamation marks. you MUST NOT, IN ANY WAY to use skirts that are shorter than knee-lenght (thighs). there are very little exceptions, just like in Punk, Sweet and Ero Lolita, (this last one that isn't even valid in my humble opinion.), so please dont do it to yourself. Thank you.

3:PETTICOATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You REALLY need a petticoat to give volume to your skirt, they are very important. Apetticoat, if you don't know what it is, its "another skirt" you wear under your skirt so it gets bigger. You probably wont be a very succesful lolita if you dont get a petticoat, so please acquire one :3

PS: ill come back to shcool so idk when ill post again lol

PS2: sorry if its bad i promise the next post will be fine

i wanna say something abt the erololita, want to clarify some common misconceptions about the style as many ppl often misinterpret this style. the word “ero” might suggest that the style is less modest or more revealing, but that's not entirely accurate. erololita does not involve wearing extremely revealing clothing or drastically less coverage!! instead, it shares the same silhouette and overall aesthetic as other lolita styles—such as classic, sweet or gothic—but with only a few subtle differences like it allows showing slightly more skin (not a lot tho!!) the style is not modest the style does not involve wearing extreme less clothing!!!!

the key distinction is that erololita allows for showing slightly more skin—like a hint of collarbone, a bit of leg or shorter skirts—though it’s important to emphasize that the difference is minimal. the skirts are only slightly shorter that most traditional styles, generally maintaining a modest and elegant appearance. it’s a style that balances maturity and sophistication without crossing into overtly provocative territory. because of its nuanced nature, erololita is NOT recommended for beginners!! it can be more difficult to pull off correctly, as it requires careful styling, good understanding of lolita proportions and attention to detail. studying outfit coordination and understanding the subtleties of the style are highly recommended before attempting it. this is a style of lolita that should not really be attempted by a new beginner to it being a more difficult style to pull off correctly (doing a lot research is recommended).

the “fake” erololita style is what ppl think erololita is, when it’s just little more mature—less hyper fem or girly. many ppl mistake “fake” erololita for the authentic style, which makes me sad. the so-called “fake” version often involves overly revealing or hyper-sexualized outfits that stray far from the original concept and isn’t lolita!! true erololita is more mature and subtle—less “hyper-fem” or “girly”—focusing on a more refined, elegant and slightly edgy aesthetic without losing the core lolita silhouette. erololita is about embracing a slightly more mature and subtly daring look while maintaining the elegance and silhouette of classic lolita fashion. it’s a style that should be approached with respect and understanding, especially by those new to lolita fashion. i hope this helps ^_^

valid enough i guess, but its still complicated in my opinion, since poeple use this to distort the concept of the style... i dont think its ugly, but i also think it doesent fits in the whole lolita concept (it being exactly the more girly style). Of course there are ways to be more mature in this subculture (for example classc, EGL and EGE), i think it really takes off the essence of the fashion, but stil think its not the worst thing in this culture. I agree with you that it can be used in it, but not with less than idk 5 years in the style
