The Landlady Short Story Review

I just finished reading The Landlady short story, and I would like to share my opinion on what I think happened at the end and whether I found the story enjoyable or not.

At the end of The Landlady, Billy Weaver is in great danger. The landlady tells him that the two other guests, Christopher Mulholland and Gregory Temple, never left. She also stuffed her pets after they died, which means she might do the same to people. Billy drinks tea that tastes like bitter almonds, which could mean it is poisoned. The story does not say exactly what happens to him, but it is likely that the landlady will kill him and keep his body, just like she did with the others.

All in all, I find The Landlady is an enjoyable story, especially for readers who like mystery and suspense. The way Roald Dahl builds tension little by little makes the story exciting and creepy at the same time. At first, the landlady seems kind, but as the story goes on, small details start to feel strange. The ending is also very clever because it leaves the reader guessing about what happens next. Even though it is a short story, it keeps the reader interested from start to finish.
