My thoughts on chat gpt

Chat gpt, as I'm sure everyone is well aware, has gotten very popular. So many of the kids in my class don't even do their work and then just use chat gpt instead. It makes me so sad to see :( like humans for thousands of years have been being creative and now people have started leaving this thing that is so central to our humanity up to a chat bot. I don't want to make it sound like it's just the younger generation because it's not. My teachers use it to make presentations and lesson plans with it too. It feel honestly disrespectful like if you aren't going to bother to teach me why should I bother to learn from you? Once I talked to a teacher (assistant teacher?) about how so many of the students were using it and she said all the teachers knew but they just didn't care. I brought up the horrible environmental impacts of all the processing centers for it. She said she didn't care about that because the world was doomed anyways... 

I'm not going to go on a tangent about doomerism and how it only hurts people but I might later. All I have to say right now is even if we are doomed, why in the world would you use that as an excuse to speed things along faster?
