My life dream is actually to become a drag queen alien dj, but for now I settle for the life of making really strange playlists that nobody I know really wants to hear me spend hours breaking down for them. But since this is myspace 2.0 I might as well have a place to freely rant about how I process music and how thoughtfully I try to rearrange the songs so that they flow right and describe things I fear language has a harder time conveying.
For context I build all of my playlists on spotify and base them off of the crossfade feature- which for those who don't know means that spotify automatically fades the last X seconds of a song into the first X seconds of the next song. It's on a scale of 1 second to 12, and personally I have mine consistently on 11 seconds. This is mainly because I don't want to have to constantly change it, and I figured that it would mean the songs are a much more perfect match if they work together on a higher setting.
Now the biggest part- why should you, the reader, care?? Well personally I think the playlists I make are pretty good and extremely underappreciated. I work hard on my spotify, spending hours, weeks, months, sometimes years on a playlist. I have 232 public playlists, with 1,003 playlists total, and 8,560 liked songs. I just am really autistic about music, always wanting to find new kinds and using playlist making as both a coping mechanism, (which is why I have so many...ngl 700 of them are probably about how much I hate myself) and also a tool to get more increasingly obscure recommendations from spotify. Falling down rabbit holes per say...
But most of them I use to tell stories. You know that thing you do when you're listening to music in a moving vehicle and you start to unconsciously see the song you were listening to? or start imagining specific "animated" scenes that match the way the song sounds? In music I've noticed you can continue those feelings across songs, finding a story to connect everything up. It's hard to do with some things of course, but I try to use as many sources as I can to create a new story or describe a feeling using music. But even then I feel like all the stories I make just stay in the playlists.
This is mainly why I want to be a dj fr....liek I feel like I would THRIVE in that scene...i just actually need to learn how to do that and then ill actually be set.
but yeah this is mostly word vomit stay posted and you will get crazy recomendations, and if ur curious alr my spotify is linked on my profile :3
