for people who self taught or are still learning, how do you guys pick up your instrument and just play?
i have a hard time doing it (maybe cuz im actually swamped in work rn and dont have motivation at all loool) but i really really really wanna. i joined the music club at my school but we still havent had a meeting (only second week of the semester itz all good). i did the same thing last semester but our music room was unusable due to construction so we couldnt play at all :/
i have an electric guitar and an electric drumset, know some bases but not much else. can somewhat read sheet music if i practice a bit more cuz i did four years of music in highschool (clarinet bass gang)

Heyo! I play the drums and I go to lessons - but youtube videos helped a TONN before that! I really like the channel "Drumeo"! And a tip - play with a metronome or music!! Also don't forget to jam out to stay creative :3 happy playing!

it rly depends on what u want to do with ur instrument! if u just want to play songs u like on the guitar u should learn the basic chord shapes of major, minor, 7, major 7 etc on the E and A string cuz with that knowledge u can listen to almost every song, find the root note and pretty much be able to play ^^ also following tutorials on youtube has been pretty helpful tho i don’t have one particular channel i can recommend. scales practice is also helpful for getting better at using the pick, hope this helped :p
