Mini part of my novel

My gaze sadly turned to the sky covered with a gray layer that seemed to be sad about something or someone, my cigarette smoke clouded my eyes making me tear up because of that strong smell... although smoking was not allowed in public, no one seemed to care since they needed to distract themselves from that collectively chaotic and disastrous mind.

I was sitting on a small wall on the street where I could watch people running and shouting, the soldiers from the central barracks had left due to suspicions of rebellion. My gaze went to a soldier who was approaching me and with spite I threw my cigarette to the ground and then stepped on it.

I sighed with regret and looked at the tall man with a bad face.

-It's the only thing we can do in a country at war, my lord...according to you, how do I calm my boredom if we can't even read books?

That soldier looked at me and made a face of annoyance, because, in this country he knew that the only privileged one was him, he was the person closest to the president...although at any moment he could be sent to war, he boasted of having a lot of money.

--How ironic that you demand respect in a world at war, my lord, seeking peace with a weapon in hand must be a joke...
