Now that I am this close to graduating high school, and I am still unsure with what college I would go to, we currently have a school-related program called "Work Immersion". It may seem strange, but I live in the Philippines, and this is a Senior High thing. It's meant to help students prepare for getting jobs and actually working in it in the foreseeable future. This is only for 10 days, and it did begin last week.
In short: it's a job simulator.
We are assigned in groups, and each groups are in different departments. Offices, police stations, and even clinics. It depends on what program we are interested in, I think. My group is assigned in a clinic, and most of us want to be nurses. Though we are not really sure XD.
I don't really know if being a doctor would seem a good fit, apart from the fact that I wanted to be one when I was a kid. Now, I really wanted to be in Arts and Design, but sadly, our region doesn't have a school that offers such a thing, and it doesn't help that I'm afraid of going somewhere else outside my home province. So I had to stick to STEM. I used to like Science as a subject back then...
As for work? We had to do the most basic thing: take vital signs of patients and have them wait patiently for their consultation (pun intended?). While we observe actual nurse work, like check-ups, vaccinations, and even IV therapy. I guess those Medicine books I read in the library did pay off, though I only read the ones about diseases even though I know damn well diagnosis can be a difficult thing to do, and symptoms vary from person to person.
The nurses there are nice, and I even got to talk to one when I had a check-up this Monday. I was not feeling well that day too.
Other than that, today we got an assessment about how we are feeling (HEADSS Assessment, actually, look that up). We're doing alright, as long as we focused on studies and not on boys. I don't seem to care about them, but I had at least 3 crushes before. One of them is my long-time friend from elementary, and is also my Research groupmate.. and one of them is with another girl now :(
Seems like a weird way to end a blog post. Anyways, bye!
Something I forgot: yes, THAT includes learning how to write resumes and application letters, as well as doing a job interview.
