Im planning to listen to 365 albums this year and i wanna document my progress so...
This list will include albums which i had already listened to most songs on and fully alien albums aswell. For years ive listened to music quite haphazardly and my goal is to appreciate albums as a whole and not just as catchy snippets.
These are own personal ratings idc if my opinion is offensive to the essence of music or whatever the fuck. Though im open about discussions of my ratings
1. Misadventures - Pierce The Veil (2016) 7/10
Already have listened to most songs on this album...
2. The Heart of Lonely People - Isles & Glaciers (2010) 7/10
I will listen to anything vic sticks his girly fingers in
3. Best Kind of Mess - Get Scared (2011) 6/10
Trying to write something about this album i realised how forgetful the whole experience was, all i remember is it being okay. Definetly need to relisten
4. The Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch - Cute is What We Aim For (2006) 4/10
Idk what is wrong with me but no matter how many times i listen to anything by ciwwaf i dont get it. Ive tried so hard to actaully enjoy it but it just ends up feeling
like edgy mall music. I have nothing against the band just hasnt clicked for me. I might listen to their other album soon. Hope my opinion changes
5. Pandora - Wisp (2024) 8/10
This was my first introduction to shoegaze and its good asf. I just hope this isnt the best the genre has to offer cause i wanna get surprised by shoegaze listening forward
6. The Drug In Me Is You - Falling in Reverse (2011) 5/10
Already have listened to most songs on this album... nothing about this album is worth the crashout ronnie had. I dont see how this album puts him in any hall of fame.
The uk isnt grovelling for you mate
7. Diary at London Bridge Studio - Sunny Day Real Estate (2024) 7/10
Usaully you can always tell when a song was released in the 90s but this feels like something that was purely released today. Definetly doesnt feel like
a rerelease of a 1994 album
8. 时差 - The Will on Kill (2023) 7/10
I hate how hard it is to find shit about them. I hope that as i progress in my hsk that ill be able to naviagte weibo easily and stalk this band
9. ICHIJIKIKOKU - ATARASHII GAKKO! (2023) 8/10
Have always liked AG. I just wish this album lent more into its jazz elements.
10. "Watch Out" - Alexisonfire (2004) 5/10
Felt meh...I honestly have nothing else to say about it
11. Perverts - Ethel Cain (2024) 8/10
I listened to this album travelling back home after my mechanics final exam at uni. Which i knew for a fact i failed. Ive never failed an exam before and was really this close to
jumping on the metro tracks fr. Listening to this album in that headspace was like being in those short films about anorexia where anorexia is personified into a bitch
called ana and it keeps screaming at the main character or some shit. I havent gotten my report card yet so wish me luck
12. Century Child - Nightwish (2002) 10/10
FUCKING HELL THIS ALBUM IS PERFECT. IVE HAD THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA COVER ON REPEAT FOR DAYS NOW. IM PLANNING TO LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE
NIGHTWISH DISCOGRAPHY
13. CHROMAKOPIA - Tyler, the creator (2024) 7/10
Already have listened to most songs on this album... and i know this defeats the whole purpose of why im doing this but i found myself enjoying the songs
on their own rather grouped together. Idk they just didnt feel as cohiesive as they shouldve been
14. Sexless Demons and Scars - Jack of Jill (1997) 10/10
Idk what i have against the 90s but i was genuinely surprised how much i loved this album. Girlscout and My Cat are top tier songs and i cant wait to listen to
other albums by jack of jill
15. Slice My Wings - hauntingclaire (2022) 6/10
Scenecore music is such a hit or meh. I liked it just not something im yearning to relisten to
16. The Normal Album - Will Wood (2020) 7/10
Already have listened to most songs on this album... it was good, liked the swingy vibes of it. Its a crime that my bitch ass hasnt listened to this full album before. ive spent my pandemic in the trenches of alt tiktok (forgive me i was 14 and cringy... i mean im still cringy lol)
17. Too Bad Youre Beautiful - From Autumn to Ashes (2005) 7/10
It was good... dont know what else to say
18. City of Evil - Avenged Sevenfold (2005) 7/10
It was good... it does have that divorced dad rock type of voice which pisses me off. I have the same problem with Black Veil Brides
19. Lets Talk About Love - Modern Talking (1985) 6/10
Only reason i listened to this album was because i liked the most popular song on it "cheri cheri lady". The album wasnt bad in any way but it was
definetly not something i usaully would seek out. The album was really nice to rest my eyes to on the bus, not calling it boring
just calming and simple
20. Sleepwalking - Memphis May Fire (2009) 9/10
I know comparing all artists to ptv is gonna paint me as insufferable, butthe semi high voice and fast paced lyrics reminded me so much og my favourite fag...vic feuntes
21. You Must Be Certain of the Devil - Diamanda Galas (1988) 8/10
i had this album recommened to me and im so glad it was. This was diffenetly a genre of music i havent delved into yet. I could obviously
see the gospel elements of it all but it felt like a mixture of goth and opera which was really fun to experience for the first time. I dont know if this album felt very similar
to tsui hark film "Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind" (1980) because they both just have similar covers or if the similarity is less superficial
but i couldnt stop think of that film when listening
22. The Used - The Used (2002) 7/10
It was good... dont know what else to say
23. Enchant - Emilie Autumn (2003) 3/10
I dont know what the fuck that was. I usually refrain from reading any reviews or opinions to any of the albums I'm listening to before I finish writing on my blogs, but I genuinely couldn't stop myself while listening to this shitshow, I mean not like the 3 reviews I found gave me any context. Okay, I don't want to refer to it as a "shitshow" too much cause the songs themselves aren't that insulting in a vacuum. I mean, they aren't good either. The songs feel kinda medieval fantasy but not the medieval or fantasy you're thinking off. Do you guys remember those fairytale YA film adaptations they did in the 2010s like Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters or Snow White & the Huntsman or even the one Little Red Riding Hood film with Amanda Seyfried. This album feels medieval the same way these films feel. The entire album isn't cohesive at all. It kind of gets it together in the last 4 songs, but that's hardly anything. I have never heard anything else from Emilie Autumn, but this album has definitely peeked my curiosity in a not so good way. I want to see if all her other projects are shit aswell
24. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis (1959) 9/10
I lied when i said i dont care if my opinions are offensive, some genres require respect that i dont think i can give them. I dont actually think i have any valid information to add to this. I cant read music. I dont know how to play any instruments. I sure as hell havent listened to enough jazz to judge this in anyway.
I also listened to AM but im not counting it because i now every song on that album by heart since i was 12 but this just happens to be the first time i sat down and listened to it as an album
25. Your Face Down Now - Hopes Die Last (2007) 8/10
Its an album that is so stereotypically post-hardcore. Not an insult its my favourite genre. Album is incrediblely relistenable.
26. Kiss The Sun Goodbye - Vampires Everywhere! (2010) 8/10
It was good... dont know what else to say
