What's the difference between an Old world Tarantula and a New world Tarantula?
In my last blog, I introduced all the species of Tarantulas I own. Under each of the species, I wrote if the were new worlds or old worlds. Here's the differences between the two!
OLD WORLDS : Come from the Eastern hemisphere. Old Worlds are known to be extremely fast and can deliver a pretty painful bite. They tend to have less hair than new worlds. Old worlds are known to be aggressive making them hard to keep & definitely not recommended for beginner keepers. Mine personally have never shown any aggression towards me just scary fast!
NEW WORLDS : Come from the Western Hemisphere. New Worlds tend to be slower and their venom is comparable to a bee sting. New worlds are hairier because they have urticating hairs. These hairs are their defense mechanism. These hairs can be extremely irritating and they use their back legs to kick the hairs off their abdomen. New worlds are known to be more docile but that Varys from species to the tarantula itself.
