Climate and Social Justice art exhibition !

Hallooo today I went to an art exhibition at one of the university's in my city! I saw it on TikTok and it was free so I thought well hell why not? The exhibition was called Breath(e) Towards Climate and Social Justice. :3

The art was so beautiful there were paintings and sculptures, there was also an embroidered canvas and a city under water! There was even a wall of social documentary photography that I found myself getting emotional looking at. It was addressing environmental and social injustices caused by industrialization, showing photos of the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan. In 2019, an atmospheric water generator, a machine engineered to bring up to 22,000 gallons of fresh clean consumption safe water to Flint was introduced. On the wall there were photos of the community with water jugs, families drinking from water hose, playing in the water and such. A photo of a woman holding her baby in front of the generator and a photo of a woman and her daughter drinking from the hose nearly brought me to tears because I couldn't imagine having young children during hard times like that. I found all of the art there very beautiful and I had the privilege of seeing Yoshitomo Nara paintings in person!

I think the students at the university did an amazing job at putting together this gallery! When I got home I looked into the arts center and I found more exhibitions they have planned for the future as well as a live performance from a poet and scholar! The live performance will be about honeybees, which I love so much, so I'm especially excited for that.
