Deportation and Dehumanization

Ever since the deportations started happening across America I have seen a lot of media talking about families getting split up, and the fear of being the next people on the ICE trucks. In the comments of this media, I see a lot of people saying things like "Good, that's what you get" or things like "Well, you shouldn't have came here illegally". It's so disgusting seeing people be insensitive or acting like it's a good thing that these people are split up. America was literally built off immigrant labour, not to mention the fact that America is stolen land, and parts of America were once part of Mexico, so to act like America is something that needs to be protected from "aliens" or "illegals" is insane. You should be protecting yourself from the government officials and rich people that are going to be profiting more. Immigrants are paid less while doing more work, so who do you think it going to have to pick up that slack when they are gone? Immigrants come to America to get a better life, it's not like they just come here because they want to. They love their country, but they just can't progress or get good jobs, and they also live in fear of the cartels or of any crime. You shouldn't hate someone just because they want to live a better life. Immigrants are PEOPLE and should be treated like people, I don't care who you are, this is not something that should be argued. The treatment immigrants are facing is just insane to me. A four year old boy has to find lawyers so he can help his parents from getting deported. A FOUR YEAR OLD. People are being sent to literal camps with HORRIBLE CONDITIONS?! If you have no sympathy, you must be heartless. I would think that what makes us human is our extreme compassion for one another, but recently I have seen a lack of humanity and kindness. A lot of media portrays immigrants as criminals, but all they are is people trying to get help. There have been times where when people found out my mom wasn't born in the US they just stopped listening to me and discarded whatever I said because I am a child of an immigrant, so of course I am going to fight for an immigrant, but no matter who I am I would always fight for the rights of people because I think that as human beings we deserve to have rights that don't restrict us or our way of life. I was born in the US, I was raised on US soil, yet so many people act like I am not a citizen just because of who I was born to.

If you are one of the people that believe that immigrants don't deserve to be in the US then you should go back to your roots too, and give the Native Indigenous people back their land🤷‍♂️. I am not saying you HAVE to love or even like them, but to treat them as if they aren't humans, or not even provide sympathy is absolutely horrid. They built a life here, their friends are here, their family is here, they left Mexico for a reason. Could you imagine loving your country, your home, but having to leave to get away from everything going on? You love your home, but there was nothing there for your future, and there was danger waiting for you. You build a new life in a new country, and you make sure your family gets opportunities you never had. And for some reason, so many people will see you as a "criminal" for coming illegally, as if you had a choice. A lot of immigrants were only able to come illegally because of the lack of money or time to actually be legal. All you were trying to do is provide and do something good for the people you love, but people see it as something bad. It's so weird to label illegal immigrants as criminals when other people have done actually horrible inhumane things, yet they only get treated with respect and love. They would never be called criminals.

This was probably a lot to read, so I am sorry. I just have to get a bit out... I am tired of this treatment and being seen as a subhuman species. I hate seeing the people I love being treated this way as well.

While I'm not an immigrant, the lack of compassion I am seeing towards people is absolutely insane to me! I hear it's insanely hard to get citizenship through tradition means so I can't even be mad at the people who find loopholes or don't even come through properly.
An argument I always hear is: "but they're getting the benefits that the rest of us pay taxes for" No the fuck they arent!! They don't get tax returns or get 'free healthcare'. If anything, they are paying taxes and don't get to reap the benefits.
It's sad and I wish people could be more understanding and kind. We never know what another person is going through.

EXACTLY!! I was honestly afraid of posting this because I have gotten a bit of backlash before when I had once talked about being afraid of what will happen to my family and friends when Trump becomes president. There have even been cases of legal immigrants being detained even when they provide proof of being legal. I can't make this up, and the fear is real.
