Let’s be honest—at some point in life, everyone has felt stuck, frustrated, or even hopeless. There are moments when we desperately wish we were somewhere else, doing something different, but it feels like the universe is against us.
Recently, while scrolling through Instagram reels, I came across a video of a girl explaining how rejection might actually be redirection. She talked about how people should embrace their Plan B or even Plan Z because, eventually, they’ll come to love it.
But from my perspective, I find this idea ironic and hard to believe. I strongly believe in second chances. If someone truly wants something, they should keep trying—again and again—until they make it happen. It’s not about forcing yourself to accept a different path just because it’s easier or more convenient. You can’t trick yourself into loving something just because you’ve gotten used to it. One day, you might wake up and realize that you don’t want to be where you are, doing what you’ve convinced yourself to settle for. And that, to me, is one of the worst feelings ever.
Living with that regret feels like slow self-destruction—like killing a part of yourself. It’s the realization that you spent your youth persuading yourself that other choices were just as good when, deep down, you always knew where you truly belonged. Yes, there are always other options. Yes, you can take different paths. But denying yourself the pursuit of what you’re passionate about is a form of self-betrayal.
I hope everyone takes a moment to think twice about their decisions. Do what feels right for you, no matter the opposition (as long as it’s legal, of course). And most importantly, don’t take other people’s opinions too seriously—because they’ll never fully understand what you want or who you are.
Never let anyone take control of your life. If you do, you’ll eventually realize you have no life left to call your own.
Stay safe, readers. Love you all.
XOXO,
Your friend, Ilham
