I’ve seen this topic get thrown around more than anything in the Cyberpunk 2077 fandom and it annoys the fuck out of me everytime because no matter what ending you get, V is dead. Whether it be V as a merc/concept or V as n Valerie/Vincent. V is dead.
There is no “Canon” ending because no matter what V is gone. It doesn’t matter how they died or even if they died for real. They’re dead as far as all of Night City knows and that’s the point. Even in the ending where V gets better after their two year coma they’re still dead. V the Merc is gone, died saving the president and now Valerie/Vincent is finally starting to live. “Oh but the arasaka ending!!” V no longer lives as a merc OR as an actual human being. V AND Valerie/Vincent is dead in this scenario even if they are physically still breathing.
The base game even sets us up to basically say “Hey, V is gunna die no matter what” with Dexter Deshawn’s entire “Going out in a blaze of glory” speech. As much as I would fucking love for my Glorious V Cyberpunk to still be alive and well we ALL know that isn’t happening. V is dead and people need to cope or shut the fuck up about. The half-baked theories are doing more hurt than help :p
