i love matcha, when i first tasted matcha i knew right then and there it will have a place in my life.
but... thru experience, i find that matcha doesnt actually taste like that. thru an internet search it says there that matcha has a slight earthy bitterness........so why was it sweet the first time around?????????????
i am a cold drinker, a very integral part of what makes me who i am. a cold day wont stop me from getting that frappe mhhm. continuing from that, different cafe right? matcha in the menu, this is great!! ^_^ i think to myself. "hot or iced?" iced obviously. i pay, i sit down, very excited for that sweet taste ive come to be acquainted with.....
the server comes and sets the matcha on the table, i say "thank youuuu ^_^", i remove the wrapper from the straw loathing the fact that its a paper straw bc that would mean i wouldnt be able to take my time with it. i mean i could ask for another but u see i already said thank you and that was all the talking i could do for that day (.....i didnt want to be a bother)
i place my straw in my drink, sipped it, and revel in its tast- why does it taste like that......... what is that gravelly texture in my throat.....
so this is who ive come to know matcha, a story of deceit but also a story of understanding. i think different cafes just make matcha differently and its been so long that i have no idea if the matcha i got was in a drink supposed to be sweet. also i tried hot matcha & it was really good.
kind of off topic but i always bought this kitkat and i always thought it was matcha flavored but after looking at the text on the packaging i found out it was green tea.....i wonder what a green tea drink tastes like........grassy and leafy with a slight bitterness.....hm....
