Any vinyl/CD/cassette collectors seeing this? I’d love to hear about how you got into collecting and what you collect!
I’ll start:
I collect vinyl & CDS. My love for vinyl started in 2018, when my late dad gave me his entire vinyl collection and his turntable, a Pioneer PL-200 - it’s quite vintage, but has amazing sound quality. I recently upgraded to an Audio-Technica ATLP120XBT-USB, which i highly recommend if you’re looking for a great turntable.
As for what I collect exactly; I mostly collect MARINA vinyl & CDs, but I also have albums by other artists like ABBA, Hozier…
I think there’s something so special about owning physical copies of your favourite albums. It makes you appreciate them even more <3

I collect vinyls :) my dad has many many vinyls and he bought me my first one around 2 years ago. We were in Berlin on a flea market, and he got me an ABBA Live vinyl :D got my record player on Christmas in the same year and now I'm spending wayyy too much money on records :') but worth it! Got around 30 vinyls by now i think :3
That’s awesome!! Definitely an expensive hobby, but sooo worth it indeed haha :)

i started collecting vintage vinyl in 2016 (because the place i went to sold 45s for 25 cents each!!) but since 2020 i started collecting all my fave albums! last year i started collecting all the CD albums i wished i own back in the 2000s and started buying new releases. ive missed having physical copies to listen to music and even thrifted a similar stereo to one i owned as a teen lol
i have A LOT of 2000s albums (kesha, katy perry, taio cruz, etc.) but i cant ever find any lady gaga or marina albums :/
omg a fellow diamond?? :D have you tried checking on Discogs for the marina/lady gaga albums that you can’t find? i once got a marina 7” vinyl on there for a good price!

i have recently! there's some good prices for cd albums that im considering getting. the marina album i want on vinyl has pricey shipping tho :( i be scouring my local stores first lol

Hihi, I collect vinyl records & CDs! I’m currently working on amassing a decent collection, and one day am looking to cut out streaming when simply relistening to things I enjoy. I am not the most frequent of purchasers, but it’s not like I am in any sort of hurry. I just buy anything I enjoy, I don’t focus on a particular genre or artist. Also, I prioritize cooler pressings because, I mean, why wouldn’t you?
I second the points that have already been made in here on physical ownership of the media/art you enjoy and the personal connection with the work that it can cause as well! One day I’ll post a blog w the stuff I own so far :D

i want to start collecting cds! my dad also gave me his cd collection from 90's and i found very interesting the booklets, like the lyrics, or photos of the band!
i dont have a lot of money so i buy when i can, but this last week i bought 9.0 live from slipknot! and i have a demos cd of nirvana! im looking to get some children of bodom/death cds!

i collect CD's!! i totally agree, physical media is so important. being able to touch, hold and physically examine pieces of media allows for a deeper connection to whatever you're consuming. like this thing is YOURS. you own it. it offers a sense of permanence that digital media can't replicate. i looove collecting physical media too. i think it's super fulfilling and facilitates a more curated, meaningful consuming experience. i hope u drop cd's one day, i'd totally buy!!
Absolutely, physical media really does make you connect even more with the art!! + I love the little booklets that come with the CDs or the vinyl gatefold sleeves

I haven't started my collection quiet yet but I'm already obsessing over the idea of starting one. I would like to get some CDs of my favorite modern artists, and then some 90s and 2000s classics. But the main reason I wanna start collecting CDs is to burn some customized playlists of my own on there. That way I can enjoy my favs when I'm traveling on planes or even to show what kind of music I was listening to exactly to my future kids. I'm also into the idea of collecting mp3s, but with my music taste always fluctuating, they're gonna be used more for personal uses.
Ohh, that’s awesome! Burning CDs is something I’d like to try as well. I really encourage you to get into collecting, it’s just so fun!!
