Kevins Philosophy [GUANO]

So the mystery behind why Kevin is an insane killer is unveiled in a few ways i think, verbally, written and thru action.

Jenni asks for the first time early on, 1994, no kills under her belt but has watched him kill. They're driving to Salem to teach Jenni how he scouts.

"Does it feel good when you kill someone?" Jenni asks. She'd been rolling the question around in her head for a while.

'It feels right.' Kevin signs one handed, slow so she can understand, eyes never leaving the road.

Jenni takes that and mulls it over, brows furrowed.

"It feels right, so that means what you're doing is right?"

He nods.

"That sounds like bullshit. Like, be honest, why do kill these people"

Kevin takes a moment, the silence settling in before responding

"I do it because I can."

And that opens a different path for Jenni's thoughts to tumble down. She reflects on how she's seen him work, crushing, mutilating, moving like a force of nature rather than a man. Because he can, because there's nothing that can physically stop him short of a gun. And even then, as ridiculous as it is to believe, a part of Jenni thinks even that wouldn't dent him.

Because he can.

"You're insane."

He nods.

----------------------------

late 90s, post Boxcutter, it comes up again

"It's my philosophy." Kevin states simply, pulling his hair back into a curly high pony.

"Since when do you have a philosophy?" Jenni notices how he hesitates, shifting in his spot on the floor. Fiddles with pens on the coffee table for a moment, eyes shifting.

"Always." he rasps.

"....Well, spill!"

"You won't get it."
