I regret it. I wish I didn’t join this damn game. Everyone around me was dying and I was scared that I might share the same fate. How is this.. what was it called? Oh right, Squid Game.
I survived Red Light Green Light, I wonder what’s
the next game…
I made my way up the stairs and saw it, pentathlon.
Isn’t that the game that was usually used in those game shows?? Though, that
might just be me but it reminds me of that. I sighed before reluctantly going
through the door. Unsure of the outcome, I participated in the game.
Many trial and errors made but I came out victorious with my other four teammates. I was so relieved and proceeded to watch the other players fight for their life. Or in this case, play for their lives.
As I watched everyone die and live with my own two eyes, someone approached me. “Miss?” He asked and I looked up to see who it was. Player 375. Oh wait, that’s my teammate during the game! I wonder what he wants…
“Yes?” I answered nervously, not sure if this guy had good or bad intentions.
“I just wanted to say..” He paused, giving me a smile of approval. It was charming honestly. “You did great.” Oh wow. I never expected those words to come out a player’s mouth since I thought everyone here was heartless and just wanted money, but him? It felt like he was just here for fun.
“Oh, thanks. You did great as well haha.” I gave him the best smile I got, trying to ignore the fact there was gunshots in the background. “Yeah. But you need to see something.” “What is it?” I looked at him curiously before seeing him suddenly float in the air. “Woahh. How are you doing that?” I asked before he gracefully floated back down. “Never you mind that. We should team up for the next game though. I promise I’ll help you.” He winked at me. I never saw someone so willing to help in here but it’s not like I’ll reject the offer; I’ll do anything to get that money for a better life.
The next round came but a lot of players had fallen and I was becoming nervous again. I was at the stairs, I needed to go up but I hesitated. What if I become just like them? What if I’m not able to get that life I always wanted? Those thoughts swirled my head before I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder.
I looked up and saw him. “Oh? Player 375!” He chuckled. “Please, just call me Chris.” He smiled at me before bringing me close to his chest. “Shall we?” He said before going up the stairs without my response. We went up the stairs together and saw the next game. Mingle.
So, basically, this game is kind of like musical chairs but you have to get people to go with you in like one out of the fifty rooms to survive. AND there’s a player limit. If we go over the limit, we’re done. If we go under, same fate. Me and Chris obviously aced the first two rounds but on the third, he wasn’t there. I was panicking because we needed to be three and we were just two. I waited for the time to end, thinking he was just a bit late but he never came. The guards came up to our room and shot us dead.
I could still see and hear for a moment. “Miss? Miss?? Miss!!” Chris called out helplessly. “Miss, I thought you were with me! I thought you were in the same room as me! I swore you were!” He said as his eyes started to tear up. I felt bad honestly, but this was my fate. As my eyes grew tired, he started shaking me like a mad man. “Please! Don’t leave me! I was promised to help you!” I smiled and held his hand. “Promises are meant to be broken anyway…” I managed to say before my body went limp.
