what tf happened to H&M?!

Pink Transparent Star

So I was shopping at the mall today (as I do) and always find myself wandering into H&M with my wallet and a pipedream that they have cute, trendy, and affordable clothes. Because I swear to everything that is good and holy, they DID have cute and trendy clothes at a nice price once upon a time. Now, while the prices haven't changed that much. Recently, every time I go there, I take one lap, and I am so disappointed by the sea of BEIGE BLACK AND WHITE in there. It's a crunchy granola beige mom's dream in there as of late, with nothing but plain and ugly styles in the most boring neutrals alive. I find maybe ONE cute thing that I eventually look at and say, "Eh, it's not cute enough to make a trip to try on," when I feel like I used to head to those dressing rooms with arms full of things. It's so disappointing. I just want old H&M back, please; whatever millennial businesswoman took it over and flooded those racks with various shades of beige and cream. PLEASE let a cunty y2k icon take over and design some things.

This has unfortunately been happening with almost all clothing stores in the past few years.

I'd suggest modifying the clothing you get to suit your style if you don't know how to make anything from scratch and showing the world who's really the boss in terms of fashion. Hell, maybe even purchase some Rit dye if you want to wear something in a color that's not currently being sold and goes against the stupid trend.

In addition, I'd also suggest thrifting (which is also a good thing for the environment and from an ethical standpoint, as it's pretty well known that H&M uses overseas sweatshops).

Thanks so much for the suggestion! I think mostly I try and thrift or repurpose when I can (love sewing) so this gives me all the more reason to

Tbh I understand that most clothing stores these days want to stay in the minimalistic trend (even tho I’ll NEVER do minimalist). I wish they at least ~tried~ to include other styles. Once any new fashion trend comes up most clothing stores practically forget that other styles exist and some of us want to stick with our original style :(

While I love black, this recent neutral colored and grunge fashion is not it... Even the prints, the details, it's all so boring.

I guess my preteen self would earn this title, because I owned a lot of colorful dresses from there circa 2015 - 2018 (with my favorite being a burgundy long sleeved dress with a gold bow on it in glitter, and of course, they all lasted me so long because they were all purchased in my next size up when I was about 9 years old).

YES FR. even as someone who's so basic with colors, there is like NOTHING outside the black to white spectrum. i luv earthy darktones and cannot find greens. when i do it feels like a mom's camping gear with messed up scrunched sleeves and odd necklines. and if my clothes are going to be all black, they need to have other materials or a monochrome design. where's the ENERGY

no deadass you get it. Like there is a way to do those colors and make them really cute but there needs to be SOME variety with greens and other shades like you said. Not just black, white, cream, and beige. And you hit the nail on the head with the weird ass sleeves and necklines like what are we doing H&M????? Not a rainbow color in sight
