My Favorite Albums of 2020

Don't mind my taste please it's just the opinion of someone who grew-up listening to basically only the bands from the Burnout 3 soundtrack and Naruto AMV's.

But this is my top 10 releases of 2020

Album Name - Artist

10. Ohms - Deftones
I really wish Deftones had a chance to tour for this alongside it's release. I think I needed some of this energy while standing. Although I really enjoyed the first couple of active listens I gave the album. I haven't exactly gone back to it enough to break it further into the top 10.

Sessions just captures everything you could like about Enjoy or Puzzle into a cohesive 9 track LP. Favorite track on this is definitely Fold Ya' Up Like a Blanket featuring The Drums, the feature definitely is the icing on the cake that is the son.

8. you'll be fine - Hot Mulligan
pop punk and emo is trash and so is this album, but so am I

Yes it's a remix album but have you driven or danced to xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx (Remix) feat. Tommy Cash & Hannah Diamond, that shit's fire.

6. Pixel Bath - Jean Dawson
This album covers so many dimensions but does them all as well as possible. Ranging from lo-fi hip hop anthems with an indie mix left me reveling in nostalgia for an older period in music I never got to experience, but was able to in Pixel Bath. The undertones in the albums remind me of a younger JPEGMAFIA, and the ASAP feature is fresh.

5. STOP STARING AT THE SHADOWS -$uicideboy$
Nothing like celebrating Scrim's sobriety with songs that remind you it's about the people that stick around you in life that make it all worth while. The last track on the album I think will always be a feel good track, and a nice love letter to their days of angst and how that aggression does not need to always be there for there be a solid $uicide record

4.  internet friends - Niiice
Would def consider this a sleeper hit for those who are not aware of Niiice's presence in the diy-sphere. The summer definitely needed some angst with a blend of sadness and a nice mix of being mad at boomers. This album had all that.

3. High Risk Behaviour - The Chats
The album is just pure adrenaline and fun. Perfect to go outside and skateboard or run too. And definitely good drinking music of course. All around high-energy, funny, and punk album. I wish The Chats got to tour in 2020.

 2. Melee - Dogleg
This album is dedicated to one of my favorite games of all time, and every track hits just as hard as a 0 to death in the game it's meant for. The guitar work is incredible and the speed and pacing of the album meets the output just right. High energy, great vocals, and excellent punk and emo guitarwork makes for a fantastic album.

1. At the Moonbase - Slaughter Beach, Dog
I love this album. There is saxophone. Jake Ewald made it.
Jokes aside, I was not even expecting this album to release so maybe there is a tad of recency bias since it came out on Christmas eve 2020. Something about how Jake makes what would be boring set pieces become a movie scene-like atmosphere is very special. Something about how this captures an older style of rock music but puts the Jake Ewald spin on the lyrics plus the added bonus of sweet sweet sax makes for my favorite album of the year.
