Serene and succulent on verdant stem
Resting on an emerald limb
Red and fragrant in the sunlight
Achenes glitter in the sight
Viridian leaves to crown your head
From evening dewdrops nightly fed
Swaying gently in the breeze
Growing on with nature's ease
Enticing scents drift on the wind
The butterflies are your friend
A garland of snow white blooms cradle
It will hold you as long as it is able
One day too great you'll be found
You'll gently float down to the ground
Your vermillion coat will attract hungry eye
But do not fret where you lie
This has always been the way
And although you may have no say
Do not think it unfair strife
You are part of the great circle of life
For when spring comes again next year
You'll be born again more glorious my dear.
